Alison Smith
Lead Coach
A BTF coach for 12 years, and athlete for over 30, I am Swimsmooth Certified and now also a BT AgeGroup Team Manager.
I volunteer coach at Hillingdon Triathletes and run a successful swim squad as well as coaching 1-1 athletes of all levels.
I live and breathe triathlon; have competed in GBR AG sprint triathlons for the last 7 years and just love helping athletes to get fitter, stronger, faster, and be the best healthy version of themselves.
I believe we also have to bring a bit of fun into our hard work from time to time!

Sandra Barden
Run Lead
I’ve been involved in Triathlon as an athlete since 2000. As a teacher by profession, I soon moved into coaching a short while later and I’ve now been a L3 BT coach for the last 10 years. In that time I also worked as a Coach Tutor for BT for 7 years and when I gave that up I took on the voluntary role of Team Manager.
Alongside club coaching I’ve run approx. 5 training camps in Lanzarote and 3 cycling camps in Italy.
My work life now consists of coaching my 1-1 athletes, ranging from Sprint to Long Distance and novice to Age Groupers. I also spend a lot of time training as an AG Sprint Duathlon and Triathlon athlete myself and have represented GB around 12 times now.
I love my triathlon life, as both an athlete and a coach

Paul Williams
Bike Lead
Sports has been a central part of my life for over 40 years, initially as a competitor and, more latterly, as a coach. Now a multiple awarding winning BTF Personal Coach, I have a few individual athletes that I provide coaching services to, as well as being a regular coach at Hillingdon Triathletes. In addition to my day-job!
Cycling has always been a key part of my sporting life. From a modest start, I progressed to competing in National events, achieving wins on track and road. In Time Trials, I have competed in the CTT Championships at both 10 and 25 miles and have current PB’s of 52 minutes at 25 and 1:51 at 50. The technical knowledge and skills attained during this time is something that I am able to pass on to my athletes.
I decided to take on triathlon in 2016 at the Age of 50 and that year won my Age Group at the popular Windsor event. Since them, I have competed for GB in Duathlons and finished 11th at the 2025 Aquabike European Championships.
For me, the very essence of coaching is driven by a desire to put something back into the sport that has given me so much. Also the huge gratitude for those coaches who always turned up when I was competing in my youth. I strongly feel that, at the core of all good coaches, is a desire to help others.
